Once again Dave Neff and Larry Hayes set out to ride and hike from lowest to highest in 24 hours. One of them made it—and made it in style, by being the first to finish the bike ride (138 mi) and then by hiking to the top of Mt. Whitney in a total time of under 23.5 hr. Jim Wyman and Jim Gray were Dave’s support crew and Larry Crawley (apparently napping while photos were being shot) was support crew for Larry. Larry did the bike ride in his typical style—with patience and a steady pace—and if you believe that, come see me about a bridge.
